Gastrointestinal
Disorders

Gastrointestinal Disorders encompass a wide range of conditions, from Autoimmune disease like Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, to food allergies and sensitivities.

This includes Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivity. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney disease, digestive tract diseases affect 60 – 70 million people.

Many physicians take a narrow view of digestive or gut issues. They focus on symptoms and medicate superficial problems instead of looking at the underlying issues that lead to gut dysfunction. Latest research and clinical trials in Functional and Integrative Medicine discovered extensive influence of the gut, specifically the microbiome. Our immune system, and it’s resilience against viruses, bacterias and environmental toxins.

We help identify microbiome imbalances such as Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). By restoring a healthy balance to the trillions of bacteria that live in the digestive system, we help our patients to improve their biological resiliency so that they are less susceptible to Coronavirus, or any other virus that comes their way.

Symptoms

Gastrointestinal Disorders produce a wide range of symptoms, many of which seem unrelated to the digestive system:

  • Decreased immune function
  • Acne
  • Anxiety
  • Autism
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Bloating
  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Diarrhea
  • Eczema
  • Gas
  • Heartburn
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Intestinal pain
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Joint pain
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Mood swings
  • Muscle pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Psoriasis

Any of these conditions indicate an underlying gastrointestinal disorder.

Causes

Many different factors can stress the gut and throw the microbiome out of balance. Common causes include heightened stress response, the overuse of antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen; and proton-pump inhibitors, which reduce gastric acid production; mercury of heavy metals, gut dysbiosis, chronic inflammation, vitamin/nutrient deficiencies, traumatic brain injury.

Diet plays a critical role in the health of these beneficial bacteria. A number of foods including gluten, dairy, sugar, processed carbs, can promote the growth of unhealthy bacteria and contribute to leaky gut, in which undigested food escapes from the damaged intestinal hole and triggers inflammation.

Our Testing

We test patients for bacterial overgrowth in the microbiome. Then we treat the findings accordingly using natural, holistic, Functional Medicine tools.

Our Method of Healing

We Find The Root Causes For True Healing

Chronic illness can present with different symptoms and challenges so there is no “cookie-cutter” treatment that works for everyone. Instead, our personalized protocols are individualized with a person’s specific focus. This way we are able to address each person’s unique root cause through our functional medicine approach.
